If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

 

겨울이 없다면 봄은 그리 즐겁지 않을 것이다. 고난을 맛보지 않으면 성공이 반갑지 않을 것이다.

 

 

 

pleasant :

1. 형용사 - 쾌적한, 즐거운, 기분 좋은
2. 형용사 - 상냥한, 예의 바른 (↔unpleasant)

 

adversity : 역경

 

 

prosperity : 번영, 번성, 번창 (=affluence)
